College Swamp Saturday

Saturday, Oct. 16th, 2021 | 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM

College students are invited to experience wildlife shows, hands-on activities, and interpretive exhibits to give students educational opportunities that they might not get in a classroom setting at the Okefenokee Swamp Park. Our mission is to cultivate enthusiasm in young adults for the preservation of one of Georgia’s natural wonders by encouraging students to immerse themselves into the ecology, habitats, waterways, wilderness, and history that dwells in the Okefenokee Swamp. An active student ID must be presented to receive this student discount.

The boat tours can be purchased at the park for a student discounted rate of $8 upon availability!

10:00am – Birding hike – If available, bring your own binoculars. We have a few sets that can be loaned out for the hike.

11:30am – Water Quality Testing – Assess the pH, dissolved oxygen, clarity, and temperature of the water in the Okefenokee and find out why the water is so special.

1:00pm – Behind the Scenes – Find out what it takes to work with wildlife ambassadors. You’ll have a chance to meet our naturalists and find out what they do day to day.

The Okefenokee Swamp Park in Waycross, Georgia is humbly inviting everyone to join in on the swamp fun as we celebrate 75 years of preservation of the beautiful oasis that is rich in history, culture, wilderness, adventure, and wildlife. We have packed the entire month of October with exciting events to immerse locals, surrounding communities, and new visitors to the swamp in! This month is more than a celebration of the past, but a beacon ringing in what is to come for the next 75 years.
